WHAT IS THE CERTIFICATION OF CHECK PRINTERS?

Payments Canada (now formerly known as the Canadian Payments Association) recommends that organizations that print their own checks or order from a commercial print shop to submit pre-production samples to a financial institution for routine verification before using them. , to make sure the institutions will accept them.

Checks produced by an autoaccredited printer are exempt from the requirement of Routine Auditing under Standard 006 by a financial institution or group designated by it.

IS YOUR PRINTER CERTIFIED?

Certified printers are identified by a four-digit printer ID number. The printer must identify his number on the back of the check, at the top right. You will see, on all checks printed at Laser Cheque, a certification number printed on the back of your checks.

ARE YOU CHECKS COMPLIANT?

In order to process cheques more efficiently, Payments Canada has developed a new technology based on electronic cheque imaging. This process allows financial institutions to transmit information via E-mail instead of by regular mail. Since a couple of years, all cheques issued in Canada have to meet the new requirements developed to facilitate image-based clearing.
